Can Manchester City Be Stopped?

Image

Today, again Manchester City romp home to another convincing victory. A 4-2 victory today, at home to Cardiff saw City consolidate their position as second in the league, and also surpass the 100 goal landmark this season. Can anybody stop their free flowing football?

Some of the football played this year by City has been truly breathtaking, some of the best I have ever witnessed. Even though they are currently laying second in the table, I think that their name can be put on the trophy already. They are gathering steam at an alarming rate, and like a hurtling freight train they seem virtually impossible to stop. I am not sure whether Arsenal can compete with the top sides, however it is clear that Manchester City have the fire power to blow any team out of the water.

Dzeko, Negrado, Aguero, Navas… the list goes on and on, the depth of talent in the squad is breathtaking, and should be striking fear into other Premier League teams. their aim this season is the quadruple, and i feel that this is possible. Yes the odds may be against them, but nobody can deny that the squad of players available to Pellegrini, are capable of beating any team in the world. Will they do it, only time will tell.

Let the Manchester Massacre Begin.

Que the massacre of Manchester United this weekend. Do Manchester United have the power to even contend with Chelsea this weekend? The absence of Rooney and Van Persie are surely going to be a tragic miss for United.

Manchester United are in the worst for that any of their current players have experienced in a United jersey, and a game against a Chelsea gathering steam is the last thing they need. It is clear that Manchester need to strengthen many aspects of their squad, and i fear that Chelsea are going to expose any weaknesses.

Chelsea have an abundance of attacking players in Hazard, Oscar, Mata, Willian, Torres… the list goes on. Do Man U have the ability in their aging squad to stop the creative Jose Mourinho, Chelsea side. I don’t think so. We all know that Mourinho is a tactical genius,  he will be licking his lips at the thought of turning United over.

I as a neutral fan I hope to see an open, end to end game. However due to the water tight Chelsea defense and the lack of creativity available to David Moyes I predict a 2-0 Chelsea victory.

Pochettino 100% committed Southampton FC

Image

After the recent departure of Southampton Chairman Nicola Cortese, Mauricio Pochettino looked as though he would be making his exit from Southampton, only a year after joining the south coast club.

Is it no secret that Nicola and Mauricio are close friends. Nicola was the man with the plan, he has had the plan to turn Southampton FC from a struggling League 1 side to a mid-table Premiership side. it was understood that if Nicola were to leave ‘Poch’ would be out the door behind him.

Yesterday Southampton fans were saying why always us! However following a press conference today it is clear that the future isn’t so bleak. Mauricio has pledged his allegiance to Southampton FC, he has unfinished business in Southampton and feels he owes it to the players, staff and fans to continue his job at the club.

Southampton saga continues as Cortese resignation rejected amidst Pochettino exit fears

ProSoccerTalk

Southampton chairman Nicola Cortese handed in his resignation letter to Saints owner Katharina Liebherr and promptly had it rejected, according to Sky Sports.

It’s the latest twist in a power struggle between the chairman and his owner, one that could ultimately cost Southampton the services of its managerial maestro, Mauricio Pochettino.

There are two parts to the disagreement. For one thing, Liebherr wants to sell the club. Its value is as high as ever and she wants to capitalize, while Cortese prefers to wait.

Cortese wants sole control of the club’s direction and is said to be tired of Liebherr’s interference in his plans. Both parties have played massive roles, the Liebherr family with bankroll and Cortese with football operations, as Southampton has shot from the bottom of League One to the Premier League.

While the Liebherr name remains on the title, Katharina’s relationship with Cortese is a lot…

World Cup in the winter … this is madness.

Image

I’m sure you all have heard that the Qatar World cup is now going to be played in the winter. This may be a logical due to the searing summer temperatures, however i fear that it could be a disastrous move for the tournament. The main issue that i see, is that many leagues across the world will have to shut down, this will really have a bad effect on the European leagues which will have to shut down for a couple of months. Surely FIFA should have thought this through before making their decision regarding the World Cup location. But all this aside I as much as most people am looking forward to this years world cup, hopefully all issues can be resolved with the Qatar World Cup when it rolls around.

Lets talk transfers! Who in England need to strengthen in the transfer window.

Hi folks!

Lets get right into this then! One of my favorite times of the year, always packed with excitement … well the last few days are. So who do I think will be dipping there toes into the transfer market.

Manchester United: I think that Man U would be on the top of everyone’s list, it is clear that they need some fresh faces! I think they need a play maker, somebody to make it happen for them, because right now their midfield is lackluster and without a real spark, Tom Cleverly is a waste of space and seem to have a plethora of holding midfielders with a phobia of passing forward. I bet Moyes is regretting not bringing Ross Barkley to Manchester now, although due to his recent form and the lack of United’s i feel he would be an unlikely target. I think they should look to sign either Borja Valero, Marek Hamsik or Mathieu Valbuena, all of these players are phenomenal passers of the ball and could really provide the cutting edge for Manchester United to help propel them up the table.

Fulham: In my opinion have the weakest squad in the premier league, the don’t have the type of players who are going to be up for a relegation scrap and are going to be sinking like a stone of they don’t do something in January. I would like to see them sure up their defense, Brede Hangerland needs a partner, Phillipe Senderos just isn’t doing it right now, before they can start looking up the table they need to sure up their leaky defense. I would like to see them sign Nedum Onuoha he is lightening fast and would really be a great partner for Hangerland.

West Ham: Recently risen out of the premier league relegation places but it is clear they need to score more goals, Although Andy Carrol may be back he still is yet to excel in the Premier league, without doubt he is a good target man and i think West Ham need to find him a partner, a real fox in the box. I am a big fan of Danny Ings, he has proven all season long that he is clinical in front of goal by scoring 22 goals this season for Burnley. With his recent form his stock will have risen and so will the intensity for his signature.

I Would like to say a congratulations to Christiano Ronaldo on winning the Ballon D’Or. A truly breathtaking year, nobody can argue that he is a worthy recipient. Congrats CR7!!!
